Percutaneous endovascular treatment for stenoses and occlusions of infrarenal aorta and aortoiliac bifurcation: midterm results.
OBJECTIVE evaluation and comparison of the endovascular treatment of isolated aortic and aortoiliac atherosclerotic lesions (stenoses and occlusions). METHODS a percutaneous endovascular procedure was performed in 52 patients (38 men and 14 women) with a mean age of 52 years (range, 25-85 years). The baseline angiogram showed 35 aortic lesions (31 stenoses, 4 occlusions) and 17 aortoiliac les...
متن کاملOpen and Endovascular Treatment of Trans-Atlantic Inter-Society Consensus II D Aortoiliac Occlusive Lesions: What Determines the Rate of Restenosis?
BACKGROUND Open surgery is the preferred approach for the treatment of type D lesions according to the Trans-Atlantic Inter-Society Consensus (TASC) II guideline, but endovascular solutions also appear to be a valid option in selected patients. The study aimed to identify the risk factors of restenosis after open and endovascular reconstruction of symptomatic TASC II D aortoiliac occlusive lesi...
متن کاملThe treatment of aortoiliac occlusions by endovascular stenting with or without adjuvant femorofemoral crossover grafting.
We present four consecutive patients in whom we have used a combination of vascular and endovascular techniques in order to revascularise ischaemic legs caused by extensive aortoiliac occlusions. We believe that the techniques presented offer a viable alternative to more conventional surgical approaches in such cases.

Chronic renal failure, severe cardiac disease, pulmonary insufficiency, morbid obesity or any uncontrolled malignant or other systemic disease that limits the performance of extensive transperitoneal operative treatment induce extra-anatomic forms of reconstruction for aortoiliac occlusive disease. Within the period 19992003, we operated 37 such patients by methods of extra-anatomic bypasses. W...
متن کاملCovered endovascular reconstruction of aortic bifurcation (CERAB) technique: a new approach in treating extensive aortoiliac occlusive disease.
Endovascular treatment of occlusive disease of the aortic bifurcation is challenging. We developed the Covered Endovascular Reconstruction of Aortic Bifurcation or CERAB-technique, as a new approach for extensive and/or recurrent aortoiliac occlusive disease using three covered balloon expandable stents to reconstruct the aortic bifurcation. This configuration provides the ability to deal with ...
